Operations Manager

We are seeking a full-time Operations Manager, this is a superb opportunity for an experienced operations leader to join the team.  Reporting to the Directors, the successful candidate will have an influential role as part of the senior management team.  The role is pivotal in moving the business forward and helping prepare the business for the demands of the future. With a proven track record in a manufacturing environment, the successful candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a sound commercial appreciation, customer focus and the ability to set the strategic direction and manage change to achieve it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a role model for Rutland Plastics’ Values and associated Behaviours.
  • Lead the Operations team which currently comprises 127 staff over a 24/5 shift pattern, including 6 direct reports (Production, Warehouse and Quality departments).
  • Create a vision of a world-class manufacturing facility.
  • Influence the directors and other senior managers to achieve buy-in of the vision and then drive change cross-functionally to achieve it.
  • Oversee the production plan and scheduling requirements to meet our customers’ expectations in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Closely monitor production efficiency and lead a continuous improvement culture to meet our customers’ expectations of quality as well as the business KPIs.
  • Identify talent and develop skills of team members to move both the individual and the business forward.
  • Be responsible for a safe working environment and promoting a safety orientated culture with all team members.

Key Measures:

  • OEE target, while achieving job productivity.
  • Customer complaints by number and value.
  • Stock levels and availability to deliver on promise.
  • Staff turnover and employee satisfaction.
  • Accidents & Near Misses.
  • Customer and External audits (i.e. BSI).

Your Essential Skills / Knowledge:

  • At least 3 years experience in a high throughput manufacturing environment.
  • Influence at a senior level.
  • Experience of using MRP / ERP systems including sound knowledge of manufacturing planning, demand, and replenishment processes.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, especially MS Office and Google applications.
  • Ideally educated to degree level or with relevant professional qualifications and industry experience.

In return we are offering a basic salary of £55,000 – £65,000 depending on skills and experience, annual performance (company and personal) bonus, company car option, 32 days holidays (including bank holidays), company pension, private health insurance, death in service insurance and on-site parking.
