Thick Section Moulding for Blagdon Pump

Rutland Plastics’ expertise in thick section moulding can be applied to a wide range of industries.  One such application is the supply of moulded components for industrial pumps.  Rutland Plastics has now been working with Blagdon Pump for 10 years in the development and manufacture of various parts for their air operated diaphragm pumps.

The injection moulded parts are manufactured in either polypropylene or PVDF dependent upon the environment in which they are to be used.  To give an indication of size, the largest part for the B50 pump has wall sections up to 42mm and the shot weight is 10.5kgs when moulded in PVDF.

The pumps have maximum working pressures from 5 Bar for the ¼” B06 up to 8.6 Bar for the 2” B50 range.  Maximum delivery is from 16 litres/minute to 530 litres/minute over the same range.

Due to the pumps being used in many demanding environments the components need to be manufactured to the highest quality.  Rutland Plastics has a long history of supplying critical parts for many specialist applications, such as high pressure gas fittings.

About Blagdon Pump

Originally founded in the early 1950’s in the North East of England as a specialist pump manufacturer, Blagdon Pump commenced production of air operated double diaphragm pumps in 1979.  This part of the business grew rapidly and is now the dominant sector of the company’s activities.  To strengthen its position in the double diaphragm pump market, the US owned multinational IDEX Corporation acquired Blagdon in 1997.

Blagdon’s pumps are used in a wide range of industries pumping products such as abrasives, adhesives, cement, cosmetics, drinks, explosives, foods, oils, sludge and waste, paint, pharmaceuticals, and even plain old water!
