DESIGN ENGINEER
Rutland Plastics has a vacancy for a Design Engineer. The company prides itself on the level of support it is able to offer both new and existing customers. A key part of this support is assistance with design. Rutland Plastics receives a large number of enquiries requiring quotation as well as firm orders for new products and components. These enquiries can take the form of basic sketches through to fully developed 3D CAD models.
Reporting to the Technical & Development Manager, the successful applicant will oversee the design of a product or component from initial concept to volume production within a busy injection moulding environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
a The preparation of design concepts for new products to customer specifications
a Liaison with customers on technical issues
a Production and issuing of product and mould tool designs to customer specifications
a Manipulation of imported CAD files to allow accurate quotes
a Assessment of designs to establish suitability to the injection moulding process
a Assist in the introduction of new processes and technologies to the company
The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of HNC/HND level with a solid engineering background, preferably with some experience in injection mould tool design. They will be a dynamic team player with an ability to communicate at all levels and able to work under their own initiative, problem solving within a design-for-production environment.
