Rutland Plastics Involvement

The designer of these innovative baggage scales worked closely with Rutland Plastics in refining the design and material selection.  Rutland Plastics suggested design changes once the material selection had been finalised, to improve the strength and mouldability of the parts.  Once this stage was completed Rutland Plastics managed the manufacture of the mould tools and worked closely with the customer in refining the samples to achieve the desired final product.  This involved some minor modifications to the mould tools to ensure that the moulded parts weighed correctly.  At this point, moulded samples were manufactured in a variety of colours to help the customer make a final choice on the look of the product.

Due to the accuracy required it was necessary to agree a strict testing regime before the Baggage Scale could go into full production.  Rutland Plastics’ quality control procedures enable customers varying quality requirements to be met and maintained.

Rutland Plastics is able to provide assembly services in addition to design, toolmaking and moulding.  In this instance all moulding, assembly and packaging is carried out by us so that the product leaves our factory fully assembled and packaged ready for the customer.
