COMMITMENT TO STAFF DEVELOPMENT AT RUTLAND PLASTICS
Rutland Plastics has always seen the benefit of investing in the development of its workforce. For you, our customers, it means consistent quality and delivery on promise.
With an ever increasing skills gap in the engineering and science based industries it has never been more important to recognise and develop skills. A policy of NVQ qualification across the company results in consistent quality levels from shop floor NVQ I to warehouse level II and technical level III.
Some of the recent accomplishments across a variety of disciplines at RP include:
§ Gavin Sayers (Maintenance) – HNC Electrical / Electronic Engineering
§ Dan Freckingham – BSc Polymer Science & Technology
§ Lee Hatton (QA) – A1/V1 NVQ Assessor / Verifier Award
§ Simon Hall, Neil Smith & Stuart Spicer – City & Guilds End Test in Polymer Processing
§ Simon Grainger and Danny Williams – completion of Advanced Apprenticeships through Northampton and Grantham respectively.
Focus
on technical development:
Name: Neil Smith
Role: Moulding technician
Time at RP: 4 years
Career target: Moulding Manager
Neil came to RP to undertake an apprenticeship programme having completed a BTEC National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, as well as an impressive array of GCSE and AS level results.
Since starting work as a trainee technician, Neil has achieved a PEO II in Mechanical Engineering, NVQ III in Polymer Processing and the City & Guilds End Test in Polymer Processing.
Through a system of structured development with a strong bias toward a sound engineering platform Neil has demonstrated competency in most aspects of injection moulding and polymer processing. Recently Neil further added to his skill base by being able to provide cover for Supervisory staff during holidays, a role which draws heavily on personal development and confidence.
With his sights firmly set on the role of Moulding Manager, with demanding technical responsibilities, Neil will shortly be entering into a course of study through Burton College leading up to a Foundation Degree in Polymer technology over a 3 year period.
