Vacancy for an Apprentice Machine Setter

This new apprenticeship presents an exciting opportunity to develop a multitude of skills in a busy manufacturing environment.  As an apprentice Machine Setter, you will learn how to set up and adjust plastic injection moulding machines for operation and production.  Therefore, this is a role that would ideally suit anyone who enjoys working with their hands, has a genuine inquisitiveness for anything engineering related and likes problem solving. 

The 48-month programme combines college with hands-on experience designed to teach you both the technical and theory you need to succeed in a long-term engineering-based career.

During your apprenticeship you will be working towards developing knowledge and experience that will enable you to:

  • Set Injection Moulding Machines (ranging from 25-1700 tons clamping force) to produce components, working closely with the Quality department to ensure the quality standard of production is within specification
  • Program robots to efficiently de-mould and deposit mouldings, sprues and runners

  • Logical thinking and a love of problem solving

Hours & Salary:

  • 40 hour week
  • 8:00 – 17:00 Monday to Thursday, 8:00 – 15:45 Friday
  • Starting at £6.25 / hr for 40 hr week. £13,000 per year. Rising in year two.


Generous 32 days’ holidays to include Christmas shutdown and bank holidays (increasing with years of service), modern uniform, all PPE supplied, onsite parking. *Healthcare and Life Assurance schemes are offered subject to completion of two years’ continuous employment.
